I’m the editor of Freewheel, the bi-monthly magazine of the Rover Sports Register, a non-profit-making club that covers all Rover products from cycles to motorcycles and cars right up to the last 2005 models.
One of our members has alerted me to the item about the Roamer, built around a 1920s 8hp Rover flat-twin engine, that appeared in Old Bike Mart (February), and for reference I have attached a picture of a car powered by the same engine.
We’ve given Ian permission to use the essence of our article, duly credited to us, in Freewheel, so who knows? One of the Rover Sport Register’s members might just know what happened to the engine at least – although given the amount of modification, it’s unlikely that it ever found its way into a car again.
