Sprinting returns to Leighton Hall

The last time bikes raced at Leighton Hall was in 1969. Here, a group of riders and their machines, headed by a race-kitted Ariel Arrow, line up for action

Competitors will race along a 220 metre track, with a 55-degree bend just 50 metres from the start line, and the event is open to all classes, from vintage to modern and three-wheelers.

There will be commentaries throughout the day, together with trade stands, an autojumble and motorcycle club displays, and with entry into the race paddock, visitors will be able to get really close to the action.

The idea took off after organiser Ian Sherrard visited Leighton Hall for last year’s classic car event and thought it would make the ideal venue for a motorcycle sprint.

Admission will cost £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for children, and parking will be free.
