Starting and finishing at the Midland Railway Centre’s Butterley station, whose excellent cafe will be open from 8.30am, the ride will cover around 100 miles with groups setting off between 9.30 and 10.30am. If you wish to take part, just turn up on the day.

• Classic sprint at North Weald Bikefest
A classic sprint, parades, displays for street and competition machinery and a guest appearance by David Hailwood with a 500cc Grand Prix Honda will all be on the menu when Bikefest takes place at North Weald Airfield on Sunday, July 27.

The cut-off year for riding on the track is 1989, and competitors must enter in advance.

Any bike can enter a Test and Tune feature on the day, and there will be a bike jumble, trade area and space for club displays.

• 300 mile ride will help blind ex-service personnel
Starting from Blind Veterans UK’s centre in Llandudno on Saturday, July 26 and finishing at BVUK’s Brighton centre, after a 300-mile journey, the Ride for Life Beyond Sight Loss is being organised to raise the funds urgently needed to provide lifelong support to blind ex-servicemen and women.

At Brighton there will be live music and a hog roast (or vegetarian dinner), and places on the ride are available for £15 per rider and £15 per pillion passenger.
