The Preston & District Motorcycle Club were holding round 5 of their championship races at 3 Sisters race circuit near Wigan on September 8 and, taking part in the Classic and Post Classic races, was Mike Powell on his BSA Bantam racer.
His chicken chaser gave a supreme performance, coming second overall in both race 1 and race 2, and leaving much larger machines like Norton Commando, Moto Guzzi V50 and Suzuki T500 in its wake on this tight circuit, only being beaten to first place by a Manx Norton in both races.
The icing on the cake was coming first in both Classic up to 250cc class races on his little BSA, leaving a pair of Suzuki T20s in a trail of feathers.
