Moon Eyes – the John Cooper story

Yet another fascinating read from the Mortons stable is this new bookazine, focussing on the road race legend, grand prix hero and motorcycling icon that is John ‘Moon Eyes’ Cooper.

With an intro from International Race Teams Association’s CEO Mike Trimby, the bookazine’s contents revolve around an extensive question and answer session with Moon Eyes by renowned motorcycling journalist and author Chris Carter, who has been a lifelong friend of John, the pair having grown up together near Derby.

With initiation into motorcycle sport coming from trials and scrambles, John’s first experience of road racing was at Osmaston Manor in Ashbourne, where he initially helped out with setting up the viewing areas for the racing at the venue, before taking part there and at nearby Alton Towers.

A trip to the TT sowed some aspirational seeds, although John’s call-up papers arrived to drag him away for national service for two years.
