Those flat-tankers outside the Hunter’s Lodge Inn

The photo in last month’s OBM of a group of flat-tank enthusiasts outside a Hunter’s Lodge Inn was taken at Priddy, Wells, Somerset BA5 3AR, and the chap on the far right is the late Bob Derrick who, along with his wife Marcia, started Classic Transfers.

Marcia still carries on this thriving business, which was advertised on the back page of
the same issue, and I checked the identity of her late husband with her.

The fourth chap from the left is Tony Dicker, and as both men were members of the Bristol section of The Vintage Motor Cycle Club, the event pictured was probably the lunch stop of one of its runs.

For added interest, this pub is the centre of the caving universe – well, for south-west England at least – and there’s an entrance to Hunter’s Hole Cave just 30ft to the left of the photo.
