The Bike Shed Show

With London being a focus for the motorcycle press of late purely due to emissions regulations, Dave Manning finds that there is at least one good reason to head to the Smoke!

There’s a great deal of talk as to where the future of classic motorcycling lies, and much discussion focuses on ways to bring new blood into old machinery.

There is little doubt that, if we are to continue seeing old bikes being used on the roads of the UK, we must busy ourselves converting younger riders to the joys of classic motorcycles, but how can that be done, when those folk aren’t the sort to be attending events such as Founders Day or Banbury?

Nor do they go to museums.

But, given the global interest in shows such as the Bike Shed Show, held in London’s picturesque and historic Tobacco Dock, and the attraction that it has for the young(er) rider, then could this be the answer?

Firstly, yes, the Bike Shed Show is all about custom bikes.

There’s very little in the way of standard machinery in any of the many rooms of Tobacco Dock, but many of the modified bikes on display have been created using modern machinery as a donor.
