That’s one way to transport a vintage motorcycle!

Your feature about the vintage reunion at Montlhery was most welcome. I’m sure many of your readers would love the event as it features only prewar machinery in two, three and four-wheeled form, making it an opportunity to view stuff never normally seen in the UK, with vehicles attending from all over Europe.

Motorcycles are well represented, and nobody is felt to be the ‘poor relation’.

Jon Dudley’s 1910 Arno stands comfortably on the running board of his 1928 Delage.

Montlhery is a very laid-back and democratic event that happens every two years, which means there’s now a frustrating wait until the next time.

I have a foot in both camps when it comes to vintage iron, so a wonderful prewar picture of a Kelsch-bodied Delage DISS showing Ray Barrington Brock’s Levis motorcycle on the running board ready to take it to the Ulster TT prompted me to loosely interpret that event.

We contrived to strap my 1910 Arno to the offside running board of my 1928 Delage, with the front wheel of the bike resting in the groove where the spare front wheel would normally sit (we chucked that in the back!). It worked perfectly, although one wag commented that a report on any form of minor collision would have made interesting reading to an insurance assessor!
