Triple world champion Freddie Spencer, veteran TT riders Stuart Graham and Mat Oxley and Norton chief executive officer Stuart Garner took part in a moving tribute to the life of John Surtees as they rode some of the most iconic motorcycles from his road racing period during the annual Henry Surtees Foundation Team Karting Challenge at the Mercedes-Benz World circuit in Surrey on July 11, writes Martin Gegg.
They were joined by drivers Damon Hill, Derek Bell, Alexander Simms, Scott Malvern and Oliver Turvey.
Freddie Spencer paraded a 1949 500cc Vincent Grey Flash, a motorcycle on which John won his very first race, which he considered the most important of his life.

He’d reassembled the single-cylinder Vincent in 1979 using many parts from the original machine that he built in 1950 while working as an apprentice at the Stevenage works.
