Marking its territory

I promised I’d send you a pic of the ’38 overhead valve Norton that came my way at the weekend: its history is unknown but it’s a local (to me) bike and has a tax disc from 1969, so maybe the reg number will be recoverable?

It is reasonably complete and came with a number of loose parts including various items of tinware that are, as yet, not properly identified; the main components known to be missing being instruments, a toolbox and possibly the correct headlamp.

The engine is a later unit, but that does not worry me as it will be great just to get an old girl like this running again, I don’t get hung up on numbers. It turns over, it has compression and the first thing it did was leak oil on my workshop floor, so a ‘hello’ like that can’t be bad!
