Home from the war – on a Coventry-Eagle?

Attached is a 1947 photo of my uncle, Harold Newton, sitting on his Coventry-Eagle. At least that’s what I think it is, but perhaps other readers could comment.

It was taken in Sheffield, probably in the rear garden of the family home in Crookesmoor, after he returned from the war.

He spent the entire time in India developing munitions fusing systems and, according to
his own account, never fired a shot in anger.
