Heartbeat’s Fanny-B patrol bike – an arresting H&H auction lot!

The 198cc Francis-Barnett police patrol bike that became a star of the early series of the 1960s-based TV police drama Heartbeat will be coming up for auction at H&H Classics’ National Motorcycle Museum sale on Thursday, July 26 – and it will be offered with the full police uniform worn by Nick Berry.

The machine is estimated to sell for between £3500 and £5000 – but who knows what might happen when the auctioneer’s gavel comes down?

The purchaser of this Heartbeat Francis-Barnett patrol bike will be leaving a smoke trail of history in its wake.

Set in the North Riding of Yorkshire, Heartbeat was based on the ‘Constable’ series of novels written by ex-policeman Peter N Walker using the pseudonym Nicholas Rea, and was broadcast on ITV in no fewer than 18 series from 1992 until 2010.
