It’s strange how bikes seem to get heavier as we become older, and with the debate about retro-styled bikes from the Far East still raging, we thought some readers might like an idea about what the best of such machines are really like to ride.
There appears to be an abundance of relatively low-priced 125cc bikes from the Orient to suit both new riders and those looking for economical, efficient and effortless commuter machines that can make filtering through our ever-congested roads a doddle, writes Dave Bell.
One of these is the distinguished-looking Sinnis Revival 125 EFI, with its retro design and beautiful silver and black paintwork with contrasting golden yellow forks, shocks and badges. The removable headlight cowl, upside-down forks and semi-digital display (but no rev counter) all add to the overall impression, but at heart it’s an undeniably modern machine.

The engine starts well and accelerates cleanly through the five gears to an unhindered 60mph, where it will happily sit as you cruise through the countryside – in fact, when you get on to a quiet stretch of road, it’s easy to imagine being back in the 1960s, running from one cafe to the next – even if you are just on the commute to work!
