Cadwell Classic Suzuki trackday


For the second year on the trot, Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire played host to a track day that focussed entirely on products made by Suzuki before 1999, and Dave Manning went along for a look.

Suzuki are the only Japanese company to organise a classic track day (although Ducati do track days, as do several classic bike owners clubs, such as Morini and the TR3OC’s Beezumph), and there’s little doubt that the reasoning behind the event is purely to promote their classic parts programme in which they’ve brought the parts for several old model lines into the limelight, reflected by bikes that they’ve built at the Motorcycle Live show at Birmingham’s NEC over the last few years.

The number 7, the Donald Duck on the helmet, and the wail of a square four Suzuki two-stroke. It’s almost like Barry is back on track…

But, regardless of the reason, it has proved very successful and popular with fans of classic Suzukis.

The first Cadwell Classic Suzuki day, in co-ordination with Darin and Rob of Classic Bike Trackdays, was on a Thursday last year, but this year’s event was on a Saturday, and tied in to a Sunday track day for our fellow office dwellers at Classic Motorcycle Mechanics magazine, giving a chance for some Suzuki owners for two days out on track.
