A TRULY ‘MAMMOTH’ EVENT!

Münch Mammoth sells for £154,940 at Bonhams spring Stafford sale

Several world bidding records were broken at the International Classic MotorCycle Show at Stafford over the weekend of April 21-22 when a 1970 1177cc Clymer MÜnch TTS Mammoth was sold for a staggering £154,940, and a 1973 MV Agusta 750S went for £96,700 – the highest price ever achieved for one of these machines at auction.

In all, with 92% of the lots sold, the sale achieved a total of £3,376,045.

Fancy entering a group of motorcycles like this and selling every single one of them! These were just some of the 42 machines put up for sale by distinguished collector Miklos Salamon.

After an intense six-way bidding battle, a 1931 981cc Brough Superior SS100 went to a bidder in the room for £264,700 – way above its pre-sale estimate of £170,000-£220,000.

Proceeds from that particular sale will benefit three charities – the Search and Rescue Dog Association, the RNLI and the Salvation Army.

James Stensel, head of Bonhams Collectors’ Motorcycles UK, said: “We are incredibly honoured to have been appointed to sell such a special machine.

“The result exceeded all expectations and demonstrates the strength of the Brough Superior market and the length the bidders will go to in support of such worthy causes.”
