Seeley Trust helps Afghanistan heroes
By: Web Editor
The Joan Seeley Pain Relief Memorial Trust has donated £2890 towards the cost of equipment recently installed at Birmingham’s Selly Oak and Queen Elizabeth Hospitals.
The high-tech ultrasound hardware, costing more than £23,000 in total, is used to treat soldiers returning from the war zone in Afghanistan, as well as civilian patients.
Colin Seeley founded the registered charity after the death of his wife Joan from bone cancer in 1979. As a tribute to her courage, he and some associates set up the Trust to provide hospitals with equipment for the relief of chronic pain. “I’m proud to say every pound given to our charity is spent on equipment,” Seeley says. “Over the years we have supported 30 hospitals throughout the UK, many donations coming from the motorcycling world.”
