Making clear this slippery subject
4 February 2012
The subject of which oil to use in a classic vehicle is even more emotive than asking someone their politics.
Ramp it up
3 December 2011.
What is it? It’s a handy, very handy actually, aluminium ramp from Oxford Products. The Basement isn’t exactly at ground level – there’s 18in of difference – and this ramp makes it easy to wheel a selection of bikes in and out of it.
King of cool
7 November 2011.
The movie industry was a 20th century phenomenon, it didn’t exist before 1900 and by 2000 the concept had changed to video and DVD. In the golden period of the talkies – which has to be the late 1930s to mid-80s and I’ll argue the toss with anyone on that – there were some iconic stars produced by the industry.
Road safety posters are reprinted
7 November 2011.
What is it? It’s one of the safety posters issued in the 1950s after government concerns about the increasing number of motorcycle accidents.
Need a good ad-Visor? Davida has the perfect answer
7 November 2011.
What is it? It’s a universal 75 JPV1 visor from D4Vi9A that transforms the open face riding experience. With a preformed ‘Fighter Pilot’ shaped lens, that’s riveted to a sprung stainless steel rim, it is secured to the helmet using an elasticated headband rather than traditional studs.
Be my anchor
3 November 2011.
What is it? It’s a ground anchor. No it’s not to stop the ground rolling away but more to stop someone rolling your motorcycle away along the ground. Like most great ideas, the ground anchor is remarkably simple and is effectively a tube that bolts to the ground.
Added value - Merlin Books – they’re magic
8 August 2011.
We all like a good book about motorcycles don’t we? there’s just something about turning the page on a whole publication devoted to your favourite marque as you settle down with a glass or two of something refreshing.
Tapping into the ethanol
9 May 2011.
What are they? They’re ethanol proof petrol taps from Paul Goff. The chrome plated lever taps as fitted to Triumph, BSA and Nortons of the late 1960s/70s have been available as pattern part replacements for some time, but the last version has been shown to be unsuitable for use with our Ethanol enriched modern petrol.
