Against

From my point of view the abolishing of the MoT test for pre-1960 vehicles is not a good idea. As a retired mechanic and engineer I have seen many dangerous repairs and practices carried out over the years on many different types of road vehicle.
Relatively speaking

I have been meaning to write in to OBM to see if anyone can assist with the enclosed picture. I think it’s quite atmospheric and most definitely my favourite old family picture.
Turning point
9 January 2012.
I was glad to see your article on lathes in December’s OBM. I bought one last year and it’s one of the best things I have bought.
Gearbox identified
9 January 2012.
The gearbox in pic 6 of June OBM’s Feedback is probably off a Wrigley Industrial three-wheel truck, as I have one with a Burman gearbox.
No secret, it needed a service
5 December 2011.
What a lovely surprise to see ‘my’ old Thunderball bike after all these years, on page six of OBM July issue.
We play it
3 December 2011.
Saw the great article regarding moto-ball (OBM Oct). In answer to your question, yes! Moto-ball is alive and kicking at the Romney Marsh Bikejumble at Hamstreet, Kent, although I suspect this is one of the few places in the UK where it can be seen.
Mystery solved... possibly
7 November 2011.
I can help unravel the mystery picture on page 3 of October’s OBM. I was serving in Norwich City Police from 1953 to 1968. The photograph was taken in front of the main entrance to Norwich City Hall. The police officer with the baton is the then Chief Constable Alan Frederick Plume who was chief from 1943 to 1963, so this dates the photo to the early 1960s.
On the ball
7 November 2011.
The article in October’s OBM about moto-ball brought back memories of my mother and I sat in the streamline Canterbury Adult sidecar attached to my father’s 500 Ariel twin, behind which was a trailer with his moto-ball bike. He was in the Basingstoke MCC who actually played Border who were mentioned in your article.
Super modeller
3 October 2011.
To follow on from the letter in the September OBM, you may be interested to contact a gentleman who exhibits at the VMCC International West Kent Run and makes the most extraordinary models all machined from billet.
Music appreciation society
3 October 2011.
How nice it was for Old Bike Mart to remember the passing of the late, great Jet Harris – original bass guitarist of the Shadows, and the first person to play the electric bass guitar in this country.
